Funded grant schemes
Government-backed funding can cover a large part, sometimes all, of the cost of upgrading your home energy efficiency. This can include measures such as insulation, heating upgrades and renewables such as solar PV. We help eligible households access the right scheme, with the support of our accredited installer network.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives homeowners a grant towards replacing fossil-fuel heating with a low-carbon heat pump. Grants are applied for on your behalf by an MCS-certified installer, and an EPC is no longer mandatory. BUS is part of the £15 billion Warm Homes Plan and has been extended to 2030.
- Up to £7,500 towards an air-source or ground-source heat pump
- £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump
- £5,000 towards a biomass boiler (rural / off-grid homes)
- Temporary £9,000 grant for off-gas-grid homes on oil or LPG, available 21 July 2026 – 31 March 2027
Warm Homes: Local Grant
The Warm Homes: Local Grant is live and runs to 31 March 2028. Delivered in England by local authorities, it helps lower-income households make energy-efficiency and low-carbon heating improvements. Eligible occupants don’t contribute to the cost. You may qualify if you own or privately rent a home in EPC band D–G and have a household income under £36,000, receive a means-tested benefit, or live in an eligible postcode.
ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
ECO4 (the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation) helps lower-income and vulnerable households fund insulation and low-carbon heating, delivered through the major energy suppliers. It runs until 31 December 2026. The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) sits alongside it and focuses on single insulation measures, with wider eligibility that can include households in lower council tax bands with a lower energy-efficiency rating.

You may qualify for more than one scheme. Eligibility is subject to survey. Finance options may be available for those that don’t meet eligibility criteria, or to make up any shortfall if full funding is not available.

Do I need an EPC to apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
No. An EPC is no longer mandatory for BUS. Alternative evidence can be accepted, and we’ll guide you through what’s needed.
Can I get more than one grant?
Possibly. Some households qualify for both the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and the Warm Homes: Local Grant. We’ll confirm the best combination for your home.
How long does the process take?
It varies by scheme and installer availability, but we keep things moving and keep you updated at every stage.
Who actually applies for the grant?
For the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, an MCS-certified installer applies on your behalf. We coordinate the whole process so you don’t have to.
